FOR THOSE NEW TO THIS SITE........................

ALBANY CENTRAL commenced its hard-hitting and insightful reporting around the time of the great GG Fields waterfront development struggle of 2005, and began offering  a series of penetrating reports and fascinating articles to a small but loyal following of readers in Albany (and naturally to everyone in the world since we are, after all, on the net.)

In the course of this endeaver Albany Central made contact with one Sanders P. Landers, his wife Sandra, and his cat Sandy.  A resident of Albany, Sanders dabbled in Albany politics, but somehow never made it onto a ballot.  But he had some things to say, anyway.  He also attempted but failed to become Albany's Poet Laureate.  (These personal reverses are chronicled in the "old" Albany Central.). His wife Sandra is a public spirited woman and shows up in our pages from time to time, pursuing her community activities.  His cat, Sandy, is mainly remarkable for having an insatiable appetite for the "Red Dot Game"--that is, chasing a red laser dot around the rug.  She is a small cat, but when you see her front claws fully extended during this game, you invariably renew your vow to stay on her good side, and utter a prayer of thanks that she isn't a bobcat, or worse, a tigress. That role is reserved for Sandra, as when she encounters some sort of injustice.  She has a short fuse when it comes to injustices.

Articles in the "old" Albany Central are generally not too serious, in keeping with AC's commitment to fair and balanced journalism.  However, AC's Editor has matured somwhat as the years go by, and now has difficulty seeing all the current events in a humourous light.  As a result a serious or semi- serious article may sneak in from time to time.  However, our firm pledge is that no article found in Albany Central will ever be so depressing as to turn you manic like those in the San Francisco Chronicle.

A NOTE ON STAFFING
Taking a cue from the City of Albany, we have decided, due to budgetary shortfalls, to run this publication with interns.  While these are bright and highly motivated young people, they aren't too deep in terms of experience and so you'll need to give us yet a little more slack (on top of the slack you have already granted us) in respect to the accuracy of our reports.

And now that you've got all that straight...........
